Hot Interview!

Millions of American children have been brain damaged by a mercury preservative added to vaccines. With the backing of several U.S. Congressmen, Dr. Mark Geier is the only independent scientist to have gotten access to the CDC Vaccine Safety Datalink, a database of adverse reactions to vaccines. He found a very strong association between the dosage of mercury and the incidence of neuro-development disorders, speech difficulties, ADD, and autism in children. The increase in the number of infant vaccines in 1991 trippled the exposure of infants to the mercury preservative. Thimerosal is 50% ethyl mercury by weight.

In February, 2005 the Institute of Medicine admonished the CDC for covering up the scandal. The next day the head of the CDC, Julie Gerberding, removed responsibility for vaccine safety from the National Immunization Program and placed it directly under her office. This move was unprecedented in the history of U.S. public health, since the NIP had been responsible for vaccine safety for over thirty years. The New York Times reported this as an administrative move, with no reference to the reason.

The CDC is blocking further attempts by the Geiers to study the data set from year 2000. The CDC paid $180 million to a private company to hold the post-2000 data. The company will not allow the Geiers access, making excuses that it will violate patient confidentiality. The CDC in turn says there's nothing it can do because it is no longer responsible for the data.

A Merck & Co. memo from 1991, revealed that following the decision of Scandanavian countries to discontinue use of thimerosal, Merck appointed Dr. Maurice Hilleman to calculate the extent to which the new CDC vaccination schedule would exceed the recommended limits for mercury exposure. He concluded that with the addition of HiB and hepatitis B vaccines to DTP, the new vaccine schedule would expose infants to 87 times the recommended daily amount of mercury set in Sweden.

Although manufacturers started to remove thimerosal from many vaccines in 1999, the influenza vaccine manufactured by AventisPasteur still contains 50mcg of thimerosal (25mcg of mercury) and has been added to the vaccine schedule for children. It is also being recommended for elderly and sick people.

Mercury is a known carcinogen, so the long term effects of thimerosal on cancer rates are yet to be determined.
